I built this table back in Feb. The braces make it very stable. This is in reference to Rich. And Morgan the levelers on the legs allow for height adjustment or unlevel surfaces. I also added a 4x4 section to the one side to make an "L" shaped table using these same plans. I am a beginner modeling a modified Atlas HO-34 Rancocas Harbor Belt using DCC. This table is good for up to 22 inch curves but would need to be larger for anything higher than that.

What gives with the expolded view of the benchwork? If the cross members are on 16" centers, the overall length is only 80", what happened to the remaining 16"?

Only comment I'd make is that if one intends to move the layout around, such as bringing it to shows, etc., then it might be good to glue and screw a 1/4" sheet of plywood to the bottom of the layout to prevent racking which could crack any plaster scenery.
