Athearn Trains announces new HO Genesis GP38-2 at Big E model railroad show

 The newly tooled Athearn Trains Genesis HO scale Electro-Motive Division GP38-2 diesel locomotive model will be decorated for railroads: Southern Ry., Southern Pacific, Missouri Pacific, and Canadian National
The first four road names announced are Canadian National (with Canadian cab), Missouri Pacific, Southern Pacific, and Southern Ry. (with high short nose). The models will feature prototype-specific steps, headlights, and fuel tanks; wire grab irons; and etched-metal grills.
Direct-current models with a Quick Plug for a Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder sell for $179.98. Models with a SoundTraxx DCC sound decoder have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $279.98.
