Hello Cody,
I'm a Senior Citizen and have stacks and stacks of MR from way back. My first HO locomotive was a six volt Varney Dockside and
the track was connected to a six volt auto battery. I had no speed
control and it would really go. I went through all the gauges and now have a nice On30 with NCE DCC control. What a change
from the old days! It's a wonderful hobby.

If you do a lot of drilling and tapping small holes, it is handy to go to a drill press first and make up a drill and tapping guide block.
I use a piece of steel 3/8 to 1/2 inch by 1 1/2" about 3-4 inches long. Drill all the standard tap and clearance sizes for all the sizes from 000-120 up to #4-40 or larger. Then you'll have a perfectly perpendicular guide block for drilling and tapping. Also nice to prevent breaking small drills and taps from accidental bending to one side.
