I have the best screwdriver for working on trains as small as Z scale!: Husky HC-74501 X
It comes with four interchangeable flat and Philips heads combinations (one of each on either end of the removable screw portion. The other three combinations are stored in the handle when not in use) I think I got mine at Home Depot. I like to cut down on the clutter on my workbench and this is basically 8 screwdrivers in one!
Here are the size heads from smallest to largest:
Flat: 1/16, 5/64, 3/32, 1/8 Philips: 000, 00, 0, 1

Greetings Cody
This is a suggestion for those who don't know what kind of fasteners to use. I suggest deck screws. They come in Phillips and Tork drive and they don't rust. This is important if you have your railroad in a damp enviorment.

Model Railroader is now my best helper. Cody seems to be the most photogenic even though he appears to be the youngest.
