Athearn Trains announces new Genesis HO scale GP50 at Big E model railroad show

 The newly tooled Athearn Trains Genesis HO scale Electro-Motive Division GP50 diesel locomotive model will be decorated for railroads: Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe; Chicago & North Western; and Southern Ry. Athearn Trains debuted its new Genesis series HO scale Electro-Motive Division GP50 diesel-electric locomotive model at the Amherst Railway Society’s Railroad Hobby Show in West Springfield, Mass., on Saturday, January 26. The Genesis series model is scheduled for delivery in September 2013. Athearn is currently accepting preorders for the models.
The first four road names announced are Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe (blue warbonnet), Chicago & North Western, and Southern Ry. (Tuxedo freight scheme with high short nose). Each road name is available in four road numbers. The models are offered with roadname- and roadnumber-specific detail, including straight or stepped side sills, phase I or II anticlimbers, and correct horn and antenna configurations. Direct-current models with a Quick Plug for a Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder sell for $189.98. Models with a SoundTraxx DCC sound decoder have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $289.98.
