Build the Virginian - A 4 x 8 with more

Check out all the extras to get the complete Virginian experience
The Virginian Ry
Model Railroader's HO scale Virginian Ry.

Model Railroader
's HO scale project layout is based on the Virginian Ry. in Spring of 1955. It's a 4 x 8-foot model train layout with with a number of places that it can be expanded. There are many interesting aspects to this layout including an industry built right into the fascia, a swing-up station scene that folds out of the way when it's not in use, and a digital track scale to simulate car-weighing operation.

Click the following links to download the first video, desktop wallpaper, and mine forms. You can also download the track plan and watch the multi-part video series on building the layout from start to finish.

Please note the following correction for the March 2012 installment of the series in Model Railroader magazine.
On page 41 of the March issue, the incorrect Atlas numbers were given for Snap-Switches, reversing the right and left designations. The correct numbers and quantities are as follows: 540 18” Snap-Switch left (1), 541 18” Snap-Switch right (4), 546 22” Snap-Switch left (1), and 547 22” Snap-Switch right (1). We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
